50mm Summicron Serial Numbers
Have you ever wondered which 35mm Summicron is right for you? For many, it has always been the newest version. But for some, that might not be the case, for various reasons. The reality is, Leica has made five versions of the venerable 35 Cron, that there really isn't a necessity to get the latest o. Look for serial numbers over 3000000.preferably over 3400000. ROM lenses are the last version of most models and are the most sought after (and expensive) but the ROM chip that communicates with the Leica body doesn't do anything on an Epic or Scarlet, so not buying those is a way to save some $$.
I'm in the market for a new lense and have narrowed it down to two choices: The 50mm f/2 Zeiss ZM or the Summicron V2/V3.
Summicron 50mm Versions
I have a friend who is offering me his Zeiss in near mint condition for $600 USD and I found have a Summicron V3 online for $800 USD. I have also thought about seeking out a V2 summicron as well.
Any opinions on which one I should go for? It'll be going on a M3 and shoot a pretty even mix of colour and b&w. Thanks!
